AL UMINIUM INVESTMENT CONTINUES WITH NEW BAR BENDING MACHINE » » AFTER KICKING OFF THE NEW Year with the purchase of yet another Stuga machining centre, master fabricator Astraseal has now made two further machinery investments. The Wellingborough-based firm has increased production in its glass factory with the addition of a brand-new, high- performance bar bender and a smart desiccant filler. The MB950 bar bending machine – complete with AM 01 semi-automatic rack, allows Astraseal to bend aluminium, steel and warm-edge spacer bar every 28 seconds. The machine optimises Astraseal’s sealed unit production through its innovative, universal head. This eliminates time-consuming tool changes and means Astraseal can bend an impressive 1,000 bars on a single nine-hour shift. “At Astraseal, we never settle. We are always looking at ways to better our performance and our overall service to ensure we can help our customers meet every demand with top quality products.” comments Colin Stanley, Operations Director at Astraseal. Completing Astraseal’s hat-trick of machinery investments is the intelligent DF502 desiccant filler. The DF502 brings ultimate precision to Astraseal’s operation, by automatically drilling the corner holes, filling the spacer bar with the specified ratio of desiccant and then sealing the openings ready for application. Premium door system boosts sales at aluminium specialist » » A LEADING MANUFACTURER OF aluminium windows and doors has reported sustained demand for several of its Renyaers products. Gloucester-based CDW Systems supplies its products to installers all over the UK and has seen a strong demand for its Reynaers aluminium sliding folding doors and for its lift and slide patio door, since their introduction to the company’s product range. Compared to the previous 12 months, the year leading up to January 2018 saw a 37% increase in sales for products from the Reynaers range. CDW’s technical director, Richard Smith, comments on the products and their popularity amongst customers: “Reynaers doors are amongst our most popular products. They have a great reputation for being secure and energy efficient and are well-known for their cutting-edge design.” In recent years, CDW Systems has seen huge developments. In 2017 the company employed a record number of new staff and underwent its biggest change yet in the form of a management buyout. In the future, Richard believes the popularity of Reynaers products will drive further growth. In 2017 CDW Systems was included in The Parliamentary Review – a prestigious publication which highlights examples of best practice in various industries. FURTHER Q-MARK CERTIFICATES ADDED » » LEADING EUROPEAN systems company Aluprof have been awarded further prestigious Q-Mark Product Certifications by Exova BM Trada, for several of their window and door systems. The Q-Mark scheme offers independent and impartial third- party assessment of manufacturers claims as to product performance and quality. Specifiers are beginning to place more emphasis on the Q-Mark scheme as it not only confirms the products claims, but also can be followed through to site installation by using the ‘Q-Mark window and door-set survey and installation scheme’ for installers. Whist initial audits are carried out when certificates are successfully awarded to systems suppliers and installers, retaining certification requires passing future company audits. Both schemes ensure that specifiers obtain the expected quality of the finished installed product. Fabricators and installers who are Secured by Design members can use the Aluprof Q-Mark approved systems to offer fully compliant Secure by Design installations which combine the principles of ‘designing out crime’ with physical security. Aluprof currently have their MB-70 open in and open out window certified, their MB-86 open in window certified and their MB-70 & MB-86 doors certified by Exova BM Trada. C L E A RV I E W-U K .
