VENTILATION AND SOUND-PROOFING TOGETHER
» » THE HUECK LAMBDA SA OFFERS
sound absorption figures of up to 31 decibels
even in the ventilation position, providing a
window system that is more applicable than
conventional sound-proof windows. The
Lambda SA not only ensures sound proofing,
but it reduces the feeling of isolation from the
outside world. In large cities urban life can
create an environment where noise levels are
in excess, in turn this can be detrimental to
well-being.
This product has been designed in the aim
of creating a greater quality of life at home and
at work.
The Lambda SA achieves this greater quality
of life by providing:
• Peace at night even with the window
open
• No unpleasant sense of being “trapped in”
acoustically
• Superior room climate due to continuous
air exchange
• Avoidance of structural damage thanks to
natural ventilation
The Lambda SA also benefits from the
following specifications: 90 mm profile
depth, 31 decibel sound insulation, 50mm
tilt opening-depth, coefficient of heat
transmission Uw ≥ 0.97 W/m2k and
soundproof insulation class 2 in tilt position.
The 90 mm profile depths allow for a
harmonious appearance, the Lambda SA also
offers outstanding thermal insulation.
‘designed to meet
project specific issues’
Visually, HUECK Lambda Silent Air offers
planners and architects an attractive alternative
to impact panes or double windows. The
Lambda SA can be combined in a variety of
ways within the Lambda modular system.
HUECK Lambda SA can be integrated into
a window strip or utilised as an individual
solution, with a fanlight or bottom light
window for inrush ventilation.
Leon Friend, Managing Director, believes:
“This new product is designed to meet project
specific issues of ventilation and acoustics, these
issues are prominent in large cities. This product
aims to appeal to architects and planners who are
working on projects in cities.”
HUECK is one of Europe’s largest
manufacturers and suppliers of aluminium
window, door and façade solutions specialising
in both standard systems, as well as bespoke
applications.
GRADE A OFFICE BUILDING, ALDWYCH HOUSE
» » A MULTI-MILLION-
pound office space has recently
been developed in Central
Reading as part of a scheme
to replace a 1980s five-storey
building with a brand-new Grade
A commercial building, consisting
of 6 floors of office space.
The new build development
attains a BREEAM excellent
standard for sustainability. It
has been designed with careful
consideration to blend with
adjacent structures of historic
significance.
After being appointed by John
Sisk, specialist façade contractor,
English Architectural Glazing
(EAG) delivered a building
envelope that combines unitised
curtain wall, windows, and doors,
using Hueck aluminium building
systems. EAG chose the following
high performance systems in the
design and build of the Aldwych
House cladding: Hueck Trigon
L - suitable for vertical/polygonal
curtain walls, Hueck Trigon
50 – offers a mullion-transom
construction for vertical, slanting,
level, or polygonal curtain walling
designs, and the Hueck Lambda
77L – one of Hueck’s flagship
door profiles.

Leon Friend, Hueck UK
managing director, comments:
“We are delighted to have
contributed to delivering this
high-quality office space, which
is near Reading train station,
through the collaboration with
EAG.” He continues: “There are
complementary colour shades
for the surrounding masonry,
provided by the projecting copper
feature rainscreen elements. EAG
have integrated this beautifully
with the unitised curtain wall
design.”
The faceted unitised curtain
wall displays curved horizontal
feature extrusions at the corner
of the building, above the main
entrance, incorporating floor-to-
ceiling glazed areas. The overall
façade quantity for the new
office building was approximately
3,500m2, and was designed to
provide maximum levels of natural
light. The building also boasts a car
park and ancillary accommodation
at lower ground floor level.
The company offers a wide
choice of profiles, all of which are
designed to integrate with each
other.
