TO FABRICATE OR BUY-IN?
»»GO ON FABRICATING OR START
buying in and concentrate on installing?
It may be a dilemma for many companies,
One to Watch
REHAU has produced
a new version of its
user friendly ‘Docs’ app
which allows fabricators
and installers to access
product and technical
information on their
mobiles and tablets.
»»THE APP, WHICH IS AVAILABLE
to download from the App store simply
by searching for ‘REHAU docs’, allows
users to create their own virtual library of
REHAU trade brochures and consumer and
specification guides which they can access
instantly at any time.
Fabricators and installers can personalise
their library simply by tapping the relevant
tab within the app to select their area of
interest, and then choosing windows, doors
and glazing systems from REHAU’s many
product areas.
Within each of the product areas, there
is a newsstand style selection pane to view
all of the available downloadable material
and a favourites button to easily store and
access the information used most often.
The new Docs app also features a rolling
news feed to keep users up to date with
the latest product launches and planned
events, and a highlights section featuring the
newest publications from REHAU.

but not for CJR Glass & Glazing, the
Southampton-based company decided on a
strategic plan to do both and now, with the
help of trade fabricator Glazerite Windows
Ltd, the strategy is paying dividends.
CJR is still manufacturing white casements
and French doors but now turns to Glazerite
for all other coloured foils and window styles,
including vertical sliders and Residence 9, as
well as composite doors and bi-folds. Founder,
Clive Ret, explained: “I didn’t want to get
out of fabricating altogether. We get a lot of
council emergency work, such as break-ins, so
I can still make and install a white window or
door in 24 hours but, at the same time, offer
customers a wider range than ever.”
Glazerite Director, Jason Thompson, said:
“We’ve encouraged many small fabricatorinstallers to shut the factory and concentrate
on what they do best – selling and installing.
Here’s a company that has found its own twist
on that philosophy and is doing very nicely as
a result.

faster, the new Endurance glazing putty
replacement is the modern alternative to putty
that speeds up the traditional glazing process.
The high tack polymer sealant is available
exclusively from hardware distributor Sealco.
Endurance glazing putty replacement
ensures a strong but flexible seal whatever the
installation; single or double glazed units, new
or repair jobs, timber or aluminium frames.
The high tack polymer construction
means that the sealant keeps its elasticity and
doesn’t shrink, thereby offering a high-tech
alternative to traditional linseed oil putty. It
can be painted or stained just two hours after
application.
“Everything in the Endurance brand is
about making life easier for installers and
fabricators and we know they need easy access
to ancillaries as well as hardware,” says Alan
Malcolm, sales director at Sealco.
“The new Endurance glazing putty
replacement and our recently launched range
of glazing packers means that Endurance
can offer a complete window and door
fitting range which is available for next day
delivery.”
