DOORS&WINDOWS
ITS OWN UNIQUE STYLE
»»NOT CONTENT TO
follow in the footsteps of
other off-the-shelf online door
designers, Endurance® Doors has
just launched its new bespoke
online Door Designer for solid
and secure composite doors,
thanks to the considerable
expertise of Business Micros.
This new online Door
Designer has been several
months in development and
has been designed to be fully
responsive across all devices
and offer the facility to upload
images, so each door can be
accurately placed on a consumer’s
house. Fundamentally, this also
eliminates the need for any
separate and resource hungry
apps, as everything is run in the
browser window.
Visitors to the site are taken
on a seamless journey through 54
different door styles, 16 door slab
colours, 10 frame colour options
and a wide range of hardware and
glass specifications, before settling
on their end design. This all
happens in a screen environment
that shows each Endurance®
Door off to the largest size and in
considerable detail.
Once the process has been
concluded, the chosen bespoke
door can then be saved, printed
or emailed and in the next few
months there will also be the
facility f or the consumer to
pass this directly to their local
Preferred Installer. The branded
interface can also be adopted
by other Endurance Doors
customers for the benefit of
fitting companies eager to take
consumers on a journey from
enquiry to installation.
The facility to upload
images of a consumer’s home is
fundamentally important and,
with over 50% of web activity
now from mobile devices,
the company is expecting
considerable website traffic. It’s
also part of its 2016 marketing
programme, which will see the
launch of further consumerfacing materials in the first half of
the year.
Stephen Nadin, managing
director of Endurance Doors
commented: “The investment
in the new Door Designer has
been considerable, yet I believe
it is one of the most important
marketing tools for our growing
network of partners. With large
and detailed images of each door
and other key features, we believe
that we can give people the best
online composite door experience
regardless of device.”

Secure composite door
»»BASED ON INDEPENDENT TESTS
Solidor: The most secure composite door
36 » A PR 2016 » CL EARVI E W- UK . C O M
and an upgrade to the Ultion cylinder lock as
standard, Solidor confirms its claim to be the
most secure composite door on the market.
An independent test house put Solidor and
two market leaders through the new, more
demanding PAS24 cut test. Solidor passed, but
two doors representing 7 out of 10 composite
doors on the market failed the test in under 90
seconds. Based on this, Solidor claimed it was
‘almost certainly’ the most secure door on the
market. Solidor passes the new PAS24 cut test,
so it’s compliant with Approved Document Q
and can legally be installed on new builds.
Composite doors pass the new PAS24 cut
test if a 50mm square hole cannot be cut
through the door using two chisels and a
stanley knife in three minutes. If a hole can be
cut through the door in that time, the door
fails. The size of the hole is big enough for a
hand to reach in and open the door from the
inside using the key or thumb turn.
Solidor CEO, Gareth Mobley, says: “The
industry has been talking about security and
Approved Document Q for the best part
of a year, and I’m pleased the industry is
taking action to upgrade the security it offers
homeowners.
‘taking action to upgrade the
security it offers homeowners’
“The changes to the PAS24 cut test aren’t
limited to hole size. A tester can now cut
anywhere up to 700mm above or below the
lock, so that’s most of the door. And the test
applies to key/key locks where before it was
thumb turns only.
“The new PAS24:2016 cut test will start
to come into force from March 2016,” adds
Gareth, “and is much more demanding than
that required by PAS24:2012. It means some
manufacturers have to work on their door
construction to make sure they pass the new
test.”
