Another groundbreaking
year for consumer credit CCS
loan approvals up by £75m
Consumer Credit Solutions
has reported another recordbreaking year with approved
loans worth over £325m in 2013
up from £252m in 2012.
Andy Wallace, Managing Partner
at CCS, says this reflects the
s teady growth by clients in the
glass and glazing market, and an
unprecedented demand for credit
finance from the Solar PV sector.
2014 shows no sign of slowing
down, with £111m in approvals
in the first quarter, due partly
to the high volume of sales in
January and February by kitchen,
bathroom and bedroom retailers.
Andy said, “More retailers are
recognising the importance of
offering customers a range of
payment options. Credit finance is
a very effective ‘soft sell’ marketing
tool, bringing in customers who
would otherwise not be able to
buy. Clients in all sectors say that
offering credit has been a major
factor increasing sales and market
share.” “With the exception of one
year, in 15 years of trading we’ve
consistently met or exceeded our
loan approval targets and in 2014
we expect to surpass £400m,” he
added.

If It’s Late It’s Free – 1 year on!
At last year’s FIT show DoorStop wowed the industry with
a unique guarantee – If It’s
Late, It’s Free. The confident
claim caught attention across
construction too. One year on
and the leading composite door
manufacturer has delivered on
its promise, with 1 door given
away for every 3,788 made.
“This works out at 0.027% - a
remarkable level of service,”
comments Door-Stop’s Business
Unit Director, Martin Dickie
(pictured). “Furthermore the
‘all their money
back through
orders placed in the
following 30 days’
guarantee is available on every
one of our doors as standard, and
a counter on www.door-stop.
co.uk is updated weekly. Details
are also posted on our Twitter
account @doorstopdoors with the
hashtag #ifitslateitsfree - it keeps
us on our toes! Almost all our
deliveries are on time, in full, but
on the rare occasion something
does go wrong, customers know
they’re covered.”
Customers who make a claim
can get all of their money back
through orders placed in the
following 30 days. “One company
spent theirs on a Door-Stop door
for the showroom!” adds Martin.
“It’s a pretty special guarantee,
but we’ve got something bigger to
launch at this year’s show. See us
at the entrance of Hall 3 to find
out!”
OLD SCHOOL HOUSE IS TOP OF ITS CLASS
Ventrolla had some serious homework
to do when they took on the restoration
of windows in the Old School House at
Lancaster Royal Grammar School.
Lancaster Royal Grammar School is one
of the UK’s top grammar schools for boys,
with more than 1,000 pupils, including 200
boarders and a thriving sixth-form of 350
students. The Old School House building
dates back to 1851 and as part of the plans
to bring Old School House back to life,
the Grade II listed building needed more
than 40 windows renovating or replacing.
Bespoke casements, sash and dormer windows
and double glazing replacements were

manufactured for the Old School House
to match the existing window profiles.
To minimise the visual impact of the new
windows, some reveals were removed, refitted
and then walls were re-plastered to hide the
reveals.
The school was successful in gaining a grant
of more than £150,000 from the Education
Funding Agency sympathetically to replace the
windows.
Dr Christopher Pyle, Headmaster, said: “This
is a well-loved building and we are delighted
with the service that Ventrolla provided.”
