BUSINESSNEWS A Year to Savour The UK economy is slowly showing signs of a recovery. Many businesses across the country are starting to benefit from the new opportunities that are now becoming available and one such company is Stoke on Trent based window and door manufacturer, Lister Trade Frames. Having been in business for some 38 years, they have experienced the effects of several recessionary periods, but with a solid Director and Management team along with their enthusiastic workforce, Listers have already seen a leap to £9.7m turnover in 2013 returning the best ever sales results for the company. “We’re delighted to have just completed our best ever year in 4 decades of trading,” commented Listers’ Managing Director Mark Warren. “To increase sales by over 9.5% compared to 2012 highlights that we’re doing the right things at the right time for our customers.” “It’s been an amazing year for us,” remarked Mark. “Our Trade Counter Team had an exceptional sales year with six successive record breaking months. Our Commercial Department have improved on 2012’s figures by a staggering 110% and we’ve also gained 134 new trade customers.” @ListerTF 01782 391900 Consumer Champion Extends Contract Nick Ross, former BBC Watchdog and Crimewatch presenter, has recently signed a three year contract extension with the Double Glazing & Conservatory Ombudsman Scheme (DGCOS). Nick Ross says: “Not all rip-offs are criminal offences, but they often have similar effects. And anyone who believes in hard-nosed consumer protection knows you can’t do better than having an independent ombudsman with powers to put things right. I’m proud to be part of the DGCOS scheme, which has proved its value, its integrity and its authority over the past four years and remains pre-eminent in an industry that was once a byword for sharp practices.” Nick originally supported DGCOS pro bono and while he agreed to take a fee for becoming involved in publicity his belief in the Scheme is such that he now endorses DGCOS’s sister scheme, The Home Insulation & Energy Systems Contractors Scheme (HIES), for free. Tony Pickup, DGCOS Founder, says: “We are delighted to continue our relationship with Nick Ross. We really value his support and his agreement to continue working with us demonstrates that we are doing exactly what we set out to do, which is to protect consumers.” More information is available from EXPERT WIND CALCULATION TRAINING REHAU is offering fabricators working in the commercial sector free training on the use of its wind calculation software.
