Your own favourite colour says a lot about your personality, and will reflect the kind of person you are. It may be flamboyant or fiery, calm and relaxed, natural and tranquil or dramatic – just like you. Colour is high on the agenda when interior designers are working out what kind of effect a client wants in their home – or in the case of commercial clients, maybe a restaurant or hotel. Colour makes up 60 percent of the reason why we favour things, both architecturally or product-based. So it is fundamental to our wellbeing. And given the competitive, pressured, stress-filled lives many of us lead today, having the right surroundings in which to live or work is more important than ever. Of course, colour varies not just with personal choice but is also influenced by fashion trends. Interestingly, many favourite colours in this industry tend towards the classic. In a conservatory or orangery and with bi-folding doors, for example, it is the connection with the garden beyond that is important, so greens or natural wood effects are always going to be a good choice. Any estate agent will tell you that having a front door in the right colour and style makes a difference to potential buyer’s image of a property. So choice is important and thanks to increasing research and development, and as this feature shows, that is improving all the time. To read more, visit when red, green and blue just won’t do!
