A
s we all know, every day we wake up, we
are provided new challenges in life. These
days are often times made even more difficult
with the various people or situations dragging
us down into the dirt. It sometimes seems as
though the more you try to reach for that golden
ring, the stronger the opposition becomes. That’s
why I like to read to stay motivated. I’ve always
wanted to be a “game changer” in life, making
a difference in my business and the industry as
a whole. My ways are sometimes considered
unorthodox because I think outside the box. This
mindset tends to bring criticism and opposition.
I don’t let others alter my goals. Instead I let the
negativity motivate me to more and do it better
than the next guy all while doing it my own way.
I refuse to stay inside the lines and every day
I strive to break the glass ceilings above me. I
wouldn’t live any other way.
I remember when my beautiful wife and I
bought our second house. I rebuilt the entire
home, putting in an eighty by fifty foot
basketball court with college three point lines.
Every weekend, people came from around the
country to play basketball with me. On top of
this, I also had several expensive sports cars in
the driveway. Don’t get me wrong, as I’m truly
not saying this to brag but only to make a point.
Over time, I noticed my neighbors became
increasingly standoffish. One day I had the
opportunity to ask one of them why he thought
people were behaving this way. He said, “Well
Rob, when I moved in, everyone said you got
all your things by selling drugs.” He then added
“They also say that there is no way Rob can
afford all that, so he has to be selling drugs.
Frankly, we just don’t like the guy.” He then
went on to say, “I hope you’re not upset by this.”
I in turn replied “Heck no I’m not upset. That’s
because I understand that there are those whore
are going to be jealous of me because they never
do anything with their own liv es. They are too
lazy and lack the desire or ability to break out of
mediocrity. In truth, I really just don’t care what
they think about me.”
You see, people will sometimes try to block
you from doing great work or criticize your
success, simply because they’re jealous of you
and the achievements they see in your life . They
don’t want to see you succeed and instead want
to bring you down so you fail. This is why you
must be aware of these individuals at all times
so you don’t get caught up in their drama, in
turn making it your own. This especially holds
true for those of us who are businesses owners.
It’s important to realize that walls and ceilings
are always before us and that we need to break
through these barriers to get to the next level
in life. Settling for mediocrity buying into the
negativity of others will only slow you down.
You need to write down your goals and stay
focused on them, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year,
and for the rest of your life. To be successful, it’s
important for you to stay educated. Try to learn
something new every day of your life. Surround
yourself with positive people who can add too
as well as appreciate your vision. I have worked
tirelessly to change an industry that is loaded
with hacks and mediocrity. How so?
I own a complete rug spa, multi-truck
carpet cleaning company, termite and pest
control company, and water damage company
in my local area. On top of this, I started
Truckmountfourms, which has over one million
forum posts. I’ve made over 250 Youtube
instructional videos, with over 1 million views.
I have the top selling instructional DVD that
has sold well into the thousands. I am the
owner of the largest digital magazine in the
carpet cleaning industry, CleanInformer. I own
CleanerDesigns; which has developed 100’s of
websites for cleaners around the globe. I’ve built
an industry mobile app. I have raised over 25,000
for cleaners who were down on their luck or had
equipment stolen. I’ve given away over 20,000
in contest giveaways since TMF’s inception. I
have a complete TMF chemical line, that’s now
selling in Interlink locations around the world.
I started the largest Facebook group for carpet
cleaners, and I am currently completing a state
of the art training facility that will cover every
aspect of cleaning from carpets and hard surfaces
to water damage. The training facility opens in
March, and our 1st class is almost sold out. With
