FEATURE any luck, we are hoping it will eliminate the need for schools and expos here in Virginia. Now again, I don’t say this to brag, but only to make my point. There are those on the internet who are like my old neighbors. I will refer to these individuals as “internet neighbors”. So my internet neighbors often say, “What Rob is doing is impossible. He must be doing something wrong.” and, “He must be a liar because it’s not possible to have that large of a social media presence.” They say, “He’s only doing it to line his pockets.” If they only knew how wrong they were. Each week I get well over a 100 phone calls, emails and private messages asking for advice and help with choosing equipment, and I do this all for free. They send negative letters to manufacturers, our advertisers, and anyone that does business with us, just to slow us down. Negative people will only focus on your faults rather than all you do to help others. Avoid them like the plague! Just like I did with my mediocre neighbors, you need to smile and avoid the negative individuals you encounter. You should stay focused on your goals if you want to make a difference in an industry that’s loaded with mediocrity and hacks. I want to make a difference for my grandchildren if they decide to take over the business one day. Even though I have done a lot in my life already, I’m just getting warmed up. This new cleaning 10 school we are opening up starts a whole new ballgame. If you’re ever in Va Beach, please stop by and see how we run our organization. We would love to have you. So how do I do it? How do I stay motivated? I try to think outside the box as much as possible and learn everything I can, every day of my life. I also love to read. I read the forums, Facebook group, industry books and emulate those that are successful. I exercise my mind on a daily basis, filling it with as much information as possible. Most of all, I love reading about others who went through trials and opposition as they set out in life to make a difference. Visionaries who were literal game changers and pioneers in their field. Albert Einstein is one of my favorites. He said from his youth up to late in his life that he met violent opposition from many of his peers. I would like to include a quote from Mr. Einstein, “Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds.” Even though he faced these trials in life, with determination and perseverance, in the end he still prevailed. I would like to close with a question to you. What is it that motivates you on a daily basis and how do you push past the obstacles in your life? Rob Allen TruckMountForums
