shut off the truckmount and
rolled up the hoses.
I go back in to get paid and
she is on the phone with her
husband. I stood there for
over 20 minutes just waiting
and finally she comes over to me carrying her
computer with my website on the screen wanting
to use a coupon I had on there for a free room of
tile cleaning when you clean 3 rooms of carpet.
I was floored. I told her if she had asked while I
had everything set up I would have done it but I
was not willing to set up all the equipment again
to do a free room of tile.
She then argues with me for 15 minutes about
me not honoring my coupons. I finally told her
if she would pay to have the tile cleaned I would
reduce the price to reflect one free room. They
had already balked at my tile cleaning price
earlier when I first arrived so I knew that would
never happen.
So next she said she wanted to use my 3 rooms
and a hall for $109 coupon. Keep in mind this
is all after the work is already done. I said I
would be glad to let her use the coupon. I said
you notice it is 3 rooms for $109 and then $33
a room for additional rooms. I said your total
is now $175. (my original quote). She bit****
even more when I pointed out the price I had on
the invoice was $50 less than the coupon price.
She then goes back to the fact they had never
paid more than $89 for cleaning their carpet so
I said “why am I here then? Why didn’t you call
the last guy that cleaned your carpet?” She said
he had gone out of business. I said “I wonder
why??? probably because he didn’t charge
enough” She then goes on about how she doesn’t
think she should pay me since there were stains
that wouldn’t come out.
All in total I was at the house for close to 5
hours. 2 hours of cleaning and 3 hours of B.S.
She finally wrote the check and I left as fast as I
could. I expect a bad review and probably a stop
payment on the check.

Well @Prosteam-sonomacounty I have had it. I
am done with coupons and cheapos. I came home
and pulled all the coupons and specials off my
website. From now on I am not going to budge
on my price. I knew when the husband was a
pain in the beginning I should have walked. I’m
sorry I didn’t.

could be an empire all by it’s self.
4. What is your minimum charge?

I have had a few calls recently that just want one
bedroom cleaned or one living room cleaned. I
would normally charge $25-$40 on each room
depending on size if I am doing multiple rooms.
But what do you charge to drive, set up, and
clean one room? Is $59 too much to charge for
one room or is that to cheap?
3. From Dragon to Sapphire,
from van to box truck

Well, my trek has begun. On my way up to
Medford Oregon to have the Dragon pulled out
and a sapphire 870 installed. My van is gutted to
make room for the new electric reels, shelving,
and sapphire 870. Eventually I plan to put this
in a box truck and then put my Dragon back
into my van. I thought I’d start this thread to
document the evolution of my business.
It’s going to be a long day. So I’m towing my
motorcycle behind my van so at least I can have
some wheels to get around on. Let the fun begin.
