10. Just another day in the trenches

9. It was a good run while it lasted
he started out as my assistant. Then I got another
TM and van and put my tech out on his own
As time went on things started happening that I
didn’t like. He refused to work on Sundays, then
Saturdays, then he didn’t want to work after 3 or
4pm. He didn’t want to tell me where he was, nor
when he left a job, and sometimes when I’d tell
him he had to go to another job ASAP he’d tell
me he’s going to lunch first.
My van got a ding on the bumper that he swears
he had nothing to do. But the bumper is pretty
damn strong and had yellow paint on it. The
same color paint that is on poles protecting the
corners of buildings. Hmm.
He’d tell me I needed to charge more for jobs,
he didn’t want to train a guy I wanted him to
train, and he got a few extra work on my dime
too. Nothing really crazy but it is what it is. Then
today when I told him he had to go to a job he
refused. So today I fired him.
Now I’m gonna have to get up off my ass and
start busting my ass again at 53 years old.
8. Is carpet cleaning going away?

So as most of you know I’ve recently went from services companies across the country. Mostly
a one man show to a two man show. Then I hired window cleaning companies but a few carpet
cleaning as well. I was talking to him last night
a helper for a few months who didn’t work out.
Then a guy with plenty of experience came along and picking his brain on carpet cleaning and he
was saying how he feels carpet cleaning is going
and I snatched him up. Things went well when
away. Keep in my he’s in southern california.
