MicroSeal: The ONLY Permanent Fabric Protector in the World MicroSeal was specifically and expressly designed in England many years ago to permanently replenish the natural protective agent that a sheep produces for its own coat. In addition to wear and stain protection, MicroSeal provides substantial sun fade resistance for the fibers. Without MicroSeal soil is naturally absorbed into the center of natural fibers, hiding the dirt from the naked eye. Often consumers don’t realize their fibers are dirty because they can’t see it. Unlike a typical fabric protector that only “coats” the fiber and then breaks up needing to be re-applied, MicroSeal penetrates the fibers to its inner cortex and protects it from the inside out. Not only from permanent stains and wear, but also from sun fade damage. What fabrics can be permanently protected? Virtually every type of fibrous fabric including wool, cotton, nylon, polyester blends, silk, natural suede, synthetic suede and even smooth finished leather. You can have all types of items protected including fine furniture, oriental rugs, carpets, curtains, interiors of boats, planes and cars and patio garden furniture. MicroSeal is not effective on vinyl. The MicroSeal will not break up, wear off, or clean off and will continue to protect the fibers from permanent stains and sun fading for many years. Basic Rug Care Washing Rugs If your rug is small and the label says “machine washable,” shake the rug outside first and then put it in the washing machine at the recommended temperature. Use warm water (90 to 105 degrees) and a mild detergent. Tumble your rug dry at the lowest heat setting. Beating Larger Rugs Most large area rugs should be professionally cleaned, especially if they are hand-made. Not only are they difficult to handle, but it is nearly impossible to remove all of the dust, pollen, dander, and pollutants by cleaning the rug in your home. Dyes can bleed and fringes can turn brown. When a large rug is wet, it is extremely heavy, and without the proper equipment, it can take several days to dry. This creates the potential for mold, rot, odors, and permanent damage to the foundation yarns. Call Clean As A Whistle to handle this delicate process for you. Vacuuming Area Rugs Area rugs with fringe require a special technique. Use gentle suction and start from the center of the carpet, vacuuming toward the fringe and being careful not to catch the strands in the beater bar. Lift the carpet edge to vacuum beneath the fringe. Caring for Oriental, Turkish, or Persian Rugs Clean imported rugs according to your carpet manufacturer’s specifications or bring in a professional cleaning service such as Clean As A Whistle. Be gentle with fringe. For heirloom-type rugs, you need professionals. Got Moths? The picture to the right shows moth damage on a rug.
