A CONVERSATION WITH DOUG MURRAY
“We do it because we land business”
That was the quick answer to the
question “Why are you exhibiting at
the 2017 CLDA Annual Meeting?” It
came from Doug Murray, Executive
Vice President of Western Peaks
Logistics LLC.
Doug is a veteran of CLDA-sponsored
shows, having exhibited at both
the 2016 CLDA Annual Meeting
and CLDA’ s 2016 Fall Forum. His
company, Western Peaks Logistics,
provides same - day/nex t- day
and last-mile delivery and logis-
tics to the western United States.
CLDA Magazine interviewed him
to find out why his company
thinks these shows are so impor-
tant. Here’s what he told us:

SHOWS?
WE LAND
BUSINESS
Murray: Getting in front of the ship-
pers and carriers that participate in
these shows is very important to us.
We want to promote that we are the
premier player in the Inter-Mountain
areas. That’s a unique niche. There
are a million companies from the
big cities here, but we are usually
the only ones that provide services
to our region. The CLDA shows
attract a lot of shippers who don’t
know how to get deliveries to our
area. They are coming to the shows
specifically to fill out their footprints
and to find agents in specific areas.
Conversely, we are also looking for
ways to partner with other carriers to
help us meet our customers’ needs.
We’ve got our areas covered. Others
at the show know how to deliver
to other regions of the country.
Lastly, we enjoy seeing our custom-
ers at these meetings. We’ve got a lot
of big national companies that we
serve and their people don’t always
make it to Salt Lake City or Denver
to see us. What the CLDA meetings
do is to allow my customers and me
