Cone 6/7 Reduction continued from page 13 Olympic Kilns Olympic has incorporated the high-quality standards of its electric kilns into the Torchbearer Gas Kilns. These portable gas kilns offer advantages including low initial cost, convenient movement for demonstration firings, and use in situations where space does not permit the installation of large permanent kilns. The Olympic Torchbearers will fire to cone 10 using natural gas, propane, or butane, and may be easily adjusted for oxidation, reduction, or raku firing. The multiple burner configuration gives the Torchbearers very even heating characteristics, fast controllable firing times, and economical operation. Three Torchbearer models are currently available, including Model 1827G, Model 2327G, and Model 2827G. They range in size from 3.95 cubic feet to 10 cubic feet. To find out more, contact Olympic Kilns at 800241-4400. Aim Kilns Aim Kilns also offer portable gas kilns. These have a valve on each burner to facilitate heat regulation. The valves are matched to the gas pipe diameter for unrestricted gas flow. They fire to cone 10 using natural gas or liquid propane. Standard equipment on each Aim kiln includes: pressure gauge, safety shut-off valve and ignition system, valves on each burner and main shut-off valve, floor tile, floor posts, damper tile, and baffle tile. Also featured are a hinged lid with lid clip and handle, and a welded angle iron THE NOTTINGHAM CENTER FOR THE ARTS SUMMER ’97 CERAMICS WORKSHOPS SAN DIEGO (SAN MARCOS), CALIFORNIA Steve Horn, July 7-11 “Throwin and Playin” (Orr-wellian Ceramics) Brian Ransome, July 28-Aug. 1 “Unusual Sounds with Clay” Terry Sullivan and Dave Blasdel, Aug. 11-15 “Cone 10 Charcoal Firing” Paul Soldner, Christmas Break ’97 Workshop For details, write: P.O. The gas valve, pressure gauge, system shut-off valve, Baso safety shut-off valve, and the Kiln Sitter solenoid valve are located together and are easy to operate. Three Aim gas kilns currently available include G2327, G2927, and G3536. They range in size from 7 to 20 cubic feet.
