Report from Jharkhand
United Action of Four CR Organisations
The Naxalbari Great Peasant
Uprising had a great impact on the
politics and the then ongoing
peoples’ movements in the
Country. The revolutionary
ideology and politics had spread
all over the country. The working
class and toiling masses of
Jemshedpur too were influenced
by them. Many workers and youth
had plunged into revolutionary
activity
and
worked
as
Professional Revolutionaries.
Some of them became Martyrs in
the course of struggle. Every year,
a Memorial Meeting is organised
in Jemshedpur on July 25 th to
remember these Martyrs. It has
become a regular practice for the
organisers of this meeting to invite
all the CR groups, individuals,
progressives and democrats to
this meeting. In July 2017 meeting,
a new thing happened. The cadre
of various CR groups and other
sympathisers present in the
Memorial-Meeting requested the
CR groups to unitedly intervene in
the present situation of growing

CPI(ML)Campaign on Cauvery waters
The Supreme Court finally
gave its verdict on the dispute of
sharing Cauvery river waters
between Karnataka and Tamil
Nadu. It directed the Central
Government to form
a
management board to implement
its verdict. Over the decades the
ruling classes have been spreading
hatred and instigating regional
sentiments so as to divide the
people of Karnataka and Tamil
Nadu and prolong the dispute to
gain their selfish political ends.
The BJP government is also
employing the same policy. Instead
of immediately forming the
management board of Cauvery
river waters, it is playing the card
of discussions to resolve the issue.

attacks on the workers, peasants,
other toiling masses and people.
The leadership of our Party CPI
(ML), CPI (ML) PCC, CPI (ML) Red
Star, CPI (ML) ND were present in
the meeting. So, the cadres and
state leaders of 4 CR groups
decided to sit together separately.
After a few sittings, they
understood each other’s position
on the Joint activities.
The joint meetings of
leaderships discussed thoroughly
the present political situation in the
country and Jharkhand in
particular. They also discussed on
how to intervene politically in
Jharkhand. Finally, it was decided
to give a call to Jharkhand people
to unite against the loot of
imperialism and the Indian
Corporate Houses; State
repression and Manuvadi
communal forces. On this call, the
four CR groups organised
Conventions in 5 districts Ranchi,
Dumka, Bokaro, Palamu and East
Singbhum. With this, the first
phase
of
co-ordination
Seeing this attempt, the State unit
of CPI(ML) took up a propaganda
campaign in Kapisthalam,
Thiruppananthal and Althur areas
in Tanjavur district and Andimadam
and T Palar areas in Ariyalur
district. It distributed thousands of
leaflets and conducted public
meetings in the towns and villages
demanding the central govern-
ment:
-to immediately form the river
management board for Cauvery
with farmers representatives; to
stop commercialization of irrigation
water and create a permanent river
co-ordination plan to solve all the
river water disputes in the country.
And demanding the state
government of Tamil Nadu:
-to restore around 40,000 tanks
for irrigation; provide relief to
distressed peasants due to scarcity
of water and extend the public
distribution system with more
supply of foodgrains to the
distressed farmers and agricultural
labour.
It called upon the people Tamil
Nadu and Karnataka not to fall prey
to the divisive tactics and regional
chauvinism being spread by the
ruling classes and unite to ensure
an equitable and timely distribution
of irrigation waters for the peasants
and against grabbing of water,
rivers, land and other resources
by the foreign and Indian big
bourgeoisie.
