Given the rapid pace at which we ’ re bombarded with products and information in today ’ s digital age , it ’ s nice to travel back to a time when quality outweighed quantity . It was a time not long ago when the world ’ s greatest athletic footwear was conceived in the Bavarian hills and hand-crafted in Germany , France , and Yugoslavia . The sales of sneakers and home saunas were on the rise . Moustache rides only cost a dollar , and wearing tight blue jeans with no shirt wasn ’ t frowned upon . Many consumers are too young to remember this time , so it ’ s rarely mentioned in today ’ s retro conversation , but the 1970s produced sneakers loaded with major technological advancements and mainstream fashion implications . Through the adidas archive and a stash of advertisements I ’ ve collected over the years , we ’ re able to look back at the most prolific decade in the brand ’ s history .
