Classic Cullman 2017 - Page 94

SOUTHERN ROOTS / Classic Cullman cullman’s exceptionally deep agricultural heritage has found its modern-day home at the Peinhardt Living History Farm cullman area chamber of commerce while preserving its artifacts on site. Today, the farm is one of North Alabama’s premiere hands-on living history exhibits, spanning more than 40 acres of original family land right at the western fringe of the City of Cullman. What does “hands on” mean at the Peinhardt farm? Farm Day guests are treated to old-time woodworking, hewing, splitting, and crosscut log sawing (participation encouraged!), an ark’s worth of mules, horses, cows, sheep, yard chickens and petting zoo animals, wagon rides, quilt making, antique tractor shows, sorghum syrup making, smithing, and...well, you’ll just have to come to Farm Day and see for yourself. Peinhardt Farm Day takes place each year in October — but it’s not the only way to glimpse what the farm has on offer. Outside of Farm Day, the Peinhardt Living History Farm also hosts school groups and special tours. For more information, contact the farm’s staff at 256-734-0850 or email at info@peinhardtfarm.com.
