y’all listen up / Classic Cullman wallace state community college On The Fast Track: A winning workforce driver By Benjamin Bullard The Cullman area’s economic and educational leaders have spent years working to recruit quality industries to Cullman County. It’s a cooperative effort that continues to place Cullman near the top of the short list for business-friendly, well-staffed and community-supportive siting locations. But doing so entails a multi-pronged commitment of local resources. Significantly, Cullman’s network of public and private business partners, as well as educators, are up to the task. Wallce State Community College’s “Fast Track for Industry” program (FTI) represents one example of how that commitment pays off. Aimed at cultivating a well-trained pool of local labor to supply local industry, Fast Track for Industry is a joint partnership between Wallace State and the Cullman County School system. Recently, Cullman City Schools have begun participating in the program. FTI is an accelerated dual enrollment program for Cullman County 11th and 12th graders interested in pursuing degrees in certain career fields, and in obtaining express entry into high-demand, skilled positions in the workforce.
