Computer/Math Classes for English Language Learners
Computer Literacy
Location: Harvard Street Campus
This course helps students learn important computer skills, such as digital safety and
typing. Students learn how to use an e-mail account and how to use the Internet. They
also learn the basic features of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Publisher.
Requirements:
- Eligible for ESL 4 or higher
Microsoft Office Applications
Location: Sonia Gutierrez Campus
This class is the next level after Computer Literacy and offers lessons on how to use
Microsoft Office Applications such as Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. After finishing
the course, students are equipped with essential computer skills and
knowledge to compete successfully in the workplace.
Requirements:
- Eligible for ESL 6 or higher
- Passing the Computer Literacy assessment test with 70% or higher
Math for Life and Work
Location: Sonia Gutierrez Campus
In this class students learn math vocabulary and skills including effective strategies to
solve problems using numbers and math concepts. This class focuses on topics such as
pre-algebra and algebra, data and statistics. Students planning to attend college are
strongly encouraged to take this class.
