John C. Church, Jr., is an Assistant Professor of English
and Communication at Immaculata University. A colonel in the Marine Reserves, he served with the 2nd Marine
Expeditionary Brigade in Helmand Province, Afghanistan
and commanded a combined, joint Civil Affairs unit of Marines, soldiers, sailors, and Iraqi civilians in Ar Ramadi,
Iraq. As a Civil Affairs officer he also served in Kosovo, Iraq,
Liberia and Afghanistan. John now commands 3D Civil
Affairs Group in Great Lakes, Illinois. John earned a M.A.
in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S.
Naval War College and an M.A. in Communication Journalism and Public Affairs from American University in
Washington, D.C. He is a doctoral student in Mass Media
and Communication at Temple University.
