Neighborhoods Most Arlington residents rate their neighborhoods favorably, in terms of quality of life (84% “excellent” or “good”). Speeding on neighborhood streets is perceived as the most widespread problem in city neighborhoods. Among other areas identified most often as at least minor neighborhood problems are burglaries, condition of major streets in or near neighborhoods, condition of residential streets, dilapidated fences, street lighting, stray animals, trash and litter, and houses in need of repair. All of these are viewed as at least minor problems by one-third or more of Arlington residents. Most residents feel very safe in their neighborhoods during the day, but only one-third say they would feel very safe walking alone in their neighborhood at night. Decision Analyst, Inc. 9
