A Message from City Manager Kristine Ridge “The Next 30: Safety, Growth, Prosperity” Nearly thirty years ago, 89 percent of our City’s residents voted in favor of incorporation. A few weeks later, Laguna Niguel became the 29th city in Orange County. Since then, our city has grown to become one of the safest, most prosperous cities, not only in Orange County, but in all of Southern California. Parks & Recreation Instructor Showcase Miss Leanna Dance Instructor Miss Leanna has an incredible passion for the arts and has been dancing since age four. Talented and determined, she is a recent graduate of Vanguard University with a B.A. in Theater. Leanna has won several awards in Scottish Highland, Hip Hop, Safety will always be our top priority. Over the past year we have taken many steps toward a safer and more secure community. Whether it is increased school safety efforts, speed limit enforcement, or keeping drugs off our streets through the collection of 80+ pounds of excess prescriptions, our Police Services Department is dedicated to ensuring a safe environment. Additionally, the City has taken an active approach toward large scale emergency and disaster readiness. Recently, our City emergency management staff worked with the California Army National Guard in joint exercises to better prepare us in the event of a large scale disaster. Our efforts to maintain the reputation of being Orange County’s safest city didn’t stop there. Through the attentiveness to residents’ concerns and a resilient drive, we were able to get the Orange County Board of Supervisors to rescind its proposal of a temporary large scale homeless shelter in Laguna Niguel. Instead, to combat homelessness, we formed a Task Force on Homelessness that has been working closely with local faith-based and nonprofit organizations to help the homeless with needed services while maintaining public safety. and Contemporary dance. Consistent with the past, the City continues to adopt fiscally conservative budgets, while setting aside funding for capital improvements. As a result of these fiscally prudent practices, we are able to make substantial capital improvements without incurring any debt. An example of this is the new Crown Valley Community Center project. She has choreographed award-winning dance pieces for the Fine Arts Festival and choreographed for shows such as Shrek the Musical, Godspell, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dream Coat and others. Currently she teaches theater and dance across Orange County and occasionally moonlights as a Princess for Ever After Princess Events for children, charity events and bedside visits at Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Miss Nicole Dance Instructor love for performing at a young age as a competitive figure skater. Once moving to Orange County, she attended Orange County School of the Arts where she continued her dance training. She is currently furthering her education in dance at a local college and most recently has choreographed pieces for Santa Ana College and the Teen Choreographer’s Festival in Huntington Beach. Currently, her days consist of continuing her education in dance, teaching various genres of dance to children and performing with her school’s Dance Touring Ensemble.
