#IamPSL - OUR STORIES
Port St. Lucie Utility Systems employees are proof
that PSL is a hometown for heroes!
The trio worked to relocate a residential grinder tank for a disabled veteran
to accommodate a permanent wheelchair ramp to her front door. Jeasun
Green, George Ury, and Nikolas Calise are proof that City employees go
beyond their typical job duties to deliver excellent customer service.
Proactive
Problem
Solvers
While working on the implementation
of the City’s new time-keeping
system, Human Resources staffers
Natalie Cabrera and Tammy Grieve
realized that some aspects of
the implementation process
were becoming difficult. They
determined this was because staff
was having trouble understanding
the way compensation is provided
to union employees. Both Natalie
and Tammy voluntarily jumped in to
help keep the project on schedule
by educating staff and participating
in the technical application of the
program.
Project Aims to be a Lifesaver
In 2018, Port St. Lucie Police Sgt. Charlie Lumpkin led an effort to team up with Project Lifesaver International to
provide citizens who have the tendency to wander with a tool that allows Law Enforcement to locate and return them
home. These citizens usually live with diagnosed medical conditions, such as Autism, Alzheimer’s, Down Syndrome,
dementia, or have suffered a traumatic brain injury. Project Lifesaver International has trained and provided the
PSLPD with equipment that is needed to locate these individuals when they leave and are wearing a RF transmitter.
This equipment greatly enhances the chances of recovering your loved one quicker, allowing them to return home to
their families. In 2018, Sgt. Lumpkin signed up more than 30 residents for this service and developed a partnership
with the PSLPD Volunteers to maintain the program.
