City Manager's Annual Report Annual Report 2018 | A Year In Review | Page 4

CITY MANAGER Residents of Port St. Lucie, I am pleased to present Port St. Lucie’s 2018 Annual Report titled “Living Our Values.” This year’s theme represents the Mission, Vision and Values of the City and the Organization’s Vision to be recognized nationally as a leader for providing superior services through a diverse, empowered and visionary City team. RUSS BLACKBURN CITY MANAGER In July of 2018, City Council updated the goals and objectives for the City’s Strategic Plan. Also, in 2018, Administration rolled out the organization’s collective values. Our values are incorporated in the way we do business and epitomize our actions. Staff is committed to working together to provide superior customer service, ethics, integrity and honesty as moral principles, accountability, transparency, and fiscal responsibility. As stewards of the community, we strive to nurture our organization and environment while embracing diversity and promoting inclusion. Strategic Planning is a pervasive theme throughout City departments as well. The list of projects and objectives are extensive, and staff is diligently working toward achieving results. This report highlights our work toward the Strategic Plan. Significant accomplishments include: the transition of almost 1,300 acres of land known as Southern Grove to City ownership; the successful Citizen Summit; the continued progress on the Crosstown Parkway Extension Bridge, which remains on schedule and within budget; the approval of the Half-Cent Sales Tax Referendum and maintaining the City’s status as the Safest Large City in Florida. Additionally, the report includes personal stories of how our team members exemplify values through their actions. The highlights in this report are just a sampling of the work being done at City Hall and throughout Port St. Lucie. We look forward to building on these accomplishments in the future and to implementing the City’s Strategic Plan, which is a road map for carrying out the Council’s vision for the City of Port St. Lucie. We are committed to providing superior customer service to our community and organization, and to be successful, I believe we must have a vision, set goals, live our values, involve stakeholders, act with integrity, and follow through. Port St. Lucie is the heart of the Treasure Coast and is one of Florida’s premier cities as illustrated by the beautiful images spread throughout this report. It is my pleasure to continue to serve the City Council and the citizens of Port St. Lucie and look forward to the future together! Best regards, Russ Blackburn CITY Tradition OF PORT ST.
