If you are not that worried about the looks of the finished table then you could make the top out of half inch exterior plywood. If you want something that looks a little better quality then I’d suggest using multiple battens. Either way, simply place the top section or sections on to the base, drill pilot holes and screw it in place.

If the wood you used has been treated and is ok for use outside then you don’t need to apply a varnish. If you used untreated wood then it would be a very good idea to dismantle the table, varnish all the parts separately and then reassemble the table. Taking the table to pieces is the best way of ensuring that there are no raw sections of untreated wood that can be attacked by the elements.

And there you have it, a completed table. Stick it in front of the bench you made a couple of issues ago and you can sit out and enjoy your garden with your feet up and a nice cold glass of your favourite beverage. Mine’s a Hobgoblin!!

Slow cooking in a thermal cooker

These recipes will work just as well in the Mr D Thermal Cooker, though there is a different technique. You bring your soup, or whatever you are cooking, to the boil and then place the pot into the thermal casing which allows the food to cook over many hours with no extra energy at all.
