Nneka ‘s advice for newcomers is to develop, maintain and nurture industry relationships. “Relationships are what keep you working”.

Although Nneka has always been a singer, her entry into the music business was as a songwriter. At the age of 19, Nneka had the presence of mind to start her own publishing agency. Since then, she has established herself as legitimate hit maker.

Nneka Morton has written for recording artist like Back Street Boy, Mya, duet for Karen Clark Sheard and Faith Evans. She toured with the Isley Brothers as a background singer and performed their Christmas LP along with Angela Winbush.

She also worked on Chris Rock’s TV show and LP, as well as with, Shaquille O’Neal, Rakim, Diana Ross, and producers like Ro0dney Jerkins, Malik Pendleton and more.

In addition, Nnkea would discourage you from selling your publishing catalog because, “Publishing is where it’s at. In those lean and in between times, those royalty checks come in handy”.
