Sydney’s Taronga Centre has supercharged the audio visual
equipment across its events spaces. CIM spoke with corporate event
coordinator Theresa Nesbitt about what to expect from the upgrade.
Q: What prompted you to invest
in a new system?
A: Recognising an opportunity
in the market to offer a fully
capable conference venue that
is different from the typical
hotel conference room is the
key driver behind investing in
a new state of the art system.
With a new AV system in place,
the Taronga Centre is now
able to compete with typical
conference venues in regards to
technical capabilities, but also
stand out from the crowd with
the additional benefits we are
able to offer.
Secondly, feedback from previous
clients who were interested
in the venue included that our
existing system did not meet the
needs of their specific conference
content, which would mean
they would need to search for
another venue with the digital
capabilities they were looking
for. So it was apparent clients
were interested in our venue,
but we were not able to offer
exactly what was needed.
to the AV equipment for their
use. Whether it be an awards
night gala dinner, or day time
conference, we want clients to
feel comfortable will all aspects
of their event, for stress free
planning and execution.
Q: Why is it so important to
have great equipment in-house?
A: Main issues have included
clients being unimpressed with
our basic system in the past,
and the level of effort required to
set up and take down during an
event. The new system improves
the overall quality of both the
audio and visual aspects and
A: We want our corporate
and private event clients to
feel like they are fully looked
after for their events, from the
quality of our catering, to the
staff for the event on the day,
Q: What are the main issues
when it comes to AV and how
does your new system solve
those problems?
capabilities of our AV system.
Clients now have more control
over their event as well, with a
central digital control panel to
access all elements of our system
to meet their needs.
Q: What other new additions
can clients expect in the
coming year or have happened
in the past year?
A: Taronga has developed a
long term development plan
and will be breaking ground
mid-2017 to develop the
Taronga Retreat in grounds,
which will now include
overnight accommodation
capabilities and an additional
venue event space.
