Julie Turpie will be joining the Destination NSW team as director event development – arts , entertainment & lifestyle . Prior to joining Destination NSW , Turpie managed a team of 40 involved in cultural event partnerships at Sydney Living Museums and also held the position of director major events & city marketing at Brisbane Marketing .
Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre ( MCEC ) has appointed Rick Aylett as senior manager of operations . He joins MCEC from Atlantic Group , and has had venue and event operation roles across the ICC Cricket World Cup , Delaware North , Spotless , the AFL and Peter Rowland .
Venues Wellington has welcomed a number of new appointments . Alana Bicknell is senior sales development manager ; Abby Eagle ( pictured ) issales development coordinator ; Jess Armstrong is operations manager ; and Rebecca Briscoe is business development coordinator .
Visit Sunshine Coast ( VSC ) has appointed Rachel Meyer ( pictured ) as the director of international marketing . She will be joined by Azra Hadzic as international and domestic trade executive based on the Sunshine Coast , Stephanie Seibert as dedicated marketing consultant in Europe and Louise Brooks heading up marketing and PR as VSC ’ s representative in New Zealand .
Gwyn Dolphin is the new CEO of Tourism Western Australia . He has held the position of acting CEO of Tourism WA since 2016 and was previously the acting executive director in Tourism WA ’ s markets and partnerships area .
Cassie Towson has been appointed as director of sales & marketing at the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort and Spa . She has over 15 years of hospitality experience and has recently been the market director of revenue strategy for the Queensland Cluster supporting Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa and Pier One Sydney Harbour , Autograph Collection .
Tourism New Zealand has appointed Stephen England-Hall as chief executive starting the role in early April 2017 . He joins Tourism New Zealand after threeyears as chief executive at Loyalty New Zealand and prior to that chief marketing officer with Syncapse Corporation and CEO for Tourism New Zealand ’ s global media agency Razorfish in London .
Sherylee Eyles has joined Tourism New Zealand as the new business events sales coordinator . Based in the Auckland office , she joins Tourism New Zealand after nine years with Heritage Hotels and a number of years in the tourism and hospitality industry .
Stephen Morahan is the new general manager of Aloft Perth which is slated to open in August 2017 . He previously held the position of GM at Le Meridien Chiang Rai Resort in Thailand , and has over 10 years ’ experience working for Marriott International .
Benny Chung has been appointed general manager at PARKROYAL on Kitchener Road in Singapore . He brings more than three decades of hotel industry experience from Singapore and China and was most recently GM of Langham Place Xiamen .
Pankaj Dhingra has been appointed hotel manager of Sage Hotel James Street , Brisbane . He was previously executive assistant manager at NEXT Hotel Brisbane , and has worked at Mercure Sydney International Airport and Novotel Brisbane .
Sydney hotel The Tank Stream , has appointed Klaus Kinateder as general manager , who spent over a decade at AccorHotels . Div Grover has also been appointed as director of sales & marketing .
InterContinental Hotels Group ( IHG ) has appointed Lara Hernandez as chief commercial officer in the Asia , Middle East and Africa ( AMEA ) region .
