artwork on the cover.. one of the most unique and interesting CD covers I’ve seen from a local band. But what does the
actual CD have in store? Let’s find out. Press play now.
The Screen is made up of Rob Ziminsky onGuitars / Vocals,
Robert Beal III on Guitars / Vocals, Jarrett Osborn on Drums /
Backing Vocals and Jon Briggs on Bass / Theremin and Backing
Vocals. Notice how all of them add something to the vocal
stylings of this 5 track EP, and the vocal work is probably the first
thing you will notice here. Clean, precise, and emotional.
Engineered and Mixed by Bob Beal at BB3 Studio (bb3studio.com) and Mastered by Jay Frigoletto at MasterSuite (promastering.com), this CD is flawless in production, allowing the real
talent of the band to shine through. Five songs is not a lot of time
to win a new listener over, but the men behind the machines force
you to notice how much care was taken in creating the sound.
It’s hard to put a “hey, if you like this band, you’ll like The
Screen”, which I have to admit is puzzling, yet refreshing. I most
definitely hear some Radiohead, Stone Temple Pilots and
dare i Alice in Chains, but there are softer, more modern vocal
and sound progressions like you hear in Linkin?Park or The
White Stripes.
The track ‘Static’ grabs me as my favorite. The show
drum beat intro to a very 90’s grunge inspired lyrical melee
which falls into a gritty, dirty guitar lick.
The Screen is not for the heavy, heavy hitters that prefer
speed and volume over precision and technique. But if you
miss the MTV of 1989-1995 where progressive rock bands
truly began to make a statement, then The Screen should be
on your radar. You can grab this 5 song EP for only a $5
download at thescreen.bandcamp.com/track/static.
