last bite
fashion plate
When did you become interested
in fashion? I was in grade 4 when I
started making Barbie clothes, then
clothing for myself. I started doing
my own stuff at 14. I found patterns
too restricting.
How would you describe your
own personal style? I feel like a
factory worker most of the time -
wearing an apron, leggings and a
giant sweatshirt… I like timeless,
effortless and comfortable, like my
line. I’m a fan of print and colour so
I wear bright and lively pieces, and
layers.
What’s your favourite fashion piece
for spring? A Kimono is key, it's so
versatile. It can be worn over a dress
for a gala, with jeans and a T-shirt, or
as a bathing suit cover up. We have
one in seven colours.
What fashion trend would you like
to start? Feeling beautiful at all sizes
and wearing what’s fl attering to your
own shape.
What similarities do you see
between fashion and food? People
can feed their hunger for fashion
by supporting local – just like they
support local chefs.
What food trends are you over?
Diets with a name! Simplicity seems
best and eating in moderation.
What are some of your "go-to"
dining spots? Café Carlo, Tony’s
Pizza, Falafel Place for breakfast with
my dad, and Sukhothai for papaya
salad and green curry soup.
Where do you like to go to show
Winnipeg off? I love West Broadway
and the business community here.
The neighbourhood has more to offer
all the time.

What do you like to do on a sunny
day with your kids? Bike rides and
gelato on Corydon.
What’s the next big thing you can’t
wait to see in Winnipeg? Fashion
week. I would love to see Winnipeg
have something that showcases local
talent like that!
