Haiti Matters
Mary Friedman and Mark Pohlman will be attending a memorial service to honor the life of Rev. Patrick Villier, founder and president of CONASPEH, on December 15 – 16 In Port-au-Prince, Haiti. We will be bringing a memorial plaque, shown below, made for the occasion. The picture was taken by Deb Garrity as Rev. Patrick was preaching here during our 300th anniversary. The text translation is : “Honor the memory of this great visionary who conquered the hearts by the way of putting into practice his famous word ‘If your life is limited to serve as your family, you lose the line of your mission.’ A husband, a father, a friend, a brother, a pastor, a thinker, a great leader, a teacher, to name but a few. You are and will remain forever in our lives and memories. Amen.”
We will also be able to take along other donated items such as non-prescriptiion medications for pain, inflammation. GI problems, as well as vitamins, especially for chidren. Donations can be left in the church office.
Most importantly, this event will be another opportunity for us to share with Haitians the love and support from First Church. You all will be with us in Spirit.
