What is a Sacred Circle?

Come Find Out On Monday, Nov. 13 at 6:45 pm

For a decade, First Church has offered women the opportunity to be part of a Sacred Circle. Each circle consists of a small group of women who commit to meeting approximately monthly, either at church or in homes. With confidentiality, they share

thoughts on living and spirituality. Members value the deep friendships that are formed, as well as the wisdom and spiritual understanding gained from these conversations. If you are interested, please come to the Study (former upstairs Pastor’s Office) on Monday, November 13 at 6:45 pm. Current circle members Maria Duncan, Anne Landry, and Susan Kennedy will lead a conversation about joining a circle. If you have questions, please speak to one of them.

Defibrillator Training

Monday, November 6, 6:30 pm

Thanks to a generous donation from Audrey Rich, First Church is purchasing an Automated External Defibrillator (AED). A discount available to organizations has been offered by KEV’s Foundation, which was established in the memory of Kevin J. Major, who died in 2011 at the age of 19 of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA).

Every year over 300,000 Americans die from SCA, and many of them could be saved by AEDs. AEDs are medical devices that analyze the heart’s rhythm and deliver, if necessary, an electrical shock (defibrillation) to help the heart restore an effective rhythm. AEDs provide clear voice instructions to guide a user through each step of providing defibrillation and CPR. The American Red Cross believes all Americans should be within 4 minutes of an AED and someone trained to use it.

First Church wants to train as many people as possible in use of the AED and will insure that one trained individual will be present each Sunday. Please attend the 30-60 minute training November 6 at 6:30 pm in the Buxton Room. Every minute of delay in an SCA emergency lowers the chance of survival by 7-10%. You could be the one to save a life.
