Prayers answered: The Collozo Family

Reunited by Susan Kennedy

Let us rejoice with South Congregational Church! After living as the guest of South in sanctuary for more than three months, Gisella Collozo has returned to her family. U.S. Citizen and Immigration Services have granted Ms. Collozo a “stay of removal” allowing her to stay for one year without fear of deportation. During this time, her new attorney will work to correct the errors made in her path to citizenship by her previous attorneys. The legal rights she has as an immigrant will be protected. Rev. Tom Gerstenlauer made the announcement June 11 to the cheers of everyone gathered at South Church expecting some news. Everyone sang and encircled Gisella with prayer as she left the church, no longer wearing a GPS ankle cuff. South Church has been supported by many faith communities, the ACLU, and the Pioneer Valley Project. Let us give thanks that so many stood up to successfully protect one family from separation!

Haiti Scholarship Fund Drive Ends

Thanks to all who contributed to the Haiti Scholarship Fund Drive this year! As of this writing we have raised nearly $13,600. A check will be sent to Global Ministries and forwarded to Pastor Francoise at C.O.N.A.S.P.E.H. Please know that you have made a big difference in a Haitian child’s life, enabling him/her to go to school for another year. Our scholarship students say, “Mesi Anpil!” “Thank you so much!”
