Reading the Bible in a Year
Our year of study concludes this month
Join Pastor Marisa for the Final Dinner & Discussion on
Wednesday, January 9, 6:00 – 8:00 pm at Center Square
Grill. We will celebrate having read the whole Bible!
Guest Speaker: Dr. Jason Sokol, author of
“The Heavens Might Crack”
Sunday, January 13 after church
Dr. Sokol, a Springfield/Longmeadow native, is
an associate professor of History at the University
of New Hampshire and an expert in American race
relations and civil rights. This book is his third and is
critically acclaimed; not a traditional biography, but
rather it documents and explores the varied reactions
to King’s shocking assassination in 1968 and how it
impacted and still impacts American society.
Dr. Sokol, who visited here in 2015 to discuss his book “All Eyes are Upon Us – Race and Politics from Boston to Brooklyn” will answer questions on“ The Heavens Might Crack: The Death and Legacy of Martin Luther King, Jr.” The book can be purchased in the Church office for $15 and is also available from amazon.
Lunch will be available prior to Dr.Sokol’s talk and childcare will be provided.
