This brings us to what we can do. Write your legislators, or call their office and let them know how you feel. Tell them you support a carbon fee. Both bills address the problems of the poor and those who need to drive a lot due to business or address.

The western Massachusetts representatives who don’t support the carbon fee and rebate bills are:

• Michael Finn, (Chicopee, Springfield, West Springfield)

• Thomas Petrolati, (Belchertown, Chicopee, Ludlow, Springfield

• William Pignatelli, (Many western Mass small towns including Great Barrington, Blandford, Russell, Tolland, Stockbridge, West Stockbridge, Otis, Lee, Lenox, & more….

• John Velis ( Westfield)

• Joseph Wagner (Chicopee)

• Todd Smola (Brimfield, Holland, Palmer, Sturbridge, Wales, Ware Warren)

• Nicholas Boldyga (Agawam. Granville, Southwick)

If you or any of your friends have representatives in the legislators on the above list please urge them to support a carbon fee.

To write a representative by email, address it [email protected] (e.g. Senator Lesser’s address is [email protected]).

Longmeadow Representative Brian Ashe and Senator Eric Lesser both support the bill. They could use your support and thanks. They are being challenged by some angry constituents.

To conclude, we are asking you to support a carbon fee based on our religious conviction that we must take care of our earth. For further illumination, Rev. Margaret Bullitt-Jonas, Missioner for Creation Care for the Massachusetts Conference UCC and Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts, has a beautiful write up in the MetroWest Daily News relative to the carbon fee: http://www.metrowestdailynews.com/opinion/20171022/to-love-god-and-neighbor-put-price-on-carbon-pollution.
