Dream 4:

Continuing to build toward being a “Yes” church where

folks can dream up a new idea and make it happen. For example,

a new Social Justice team has formed. First Church began this process before I came, but we need to continue its evolution. What do you care about? What do you want to see happen here? Let me help you!

To be a “Yes” church, we must agree to encourage ideas while acknowledging that many will not work out. In other words, we will revel in our failures! Trying an idea that doesn’t work means we are learning more and more about who we are and what the needs of our community are. No matter the outcome of a suggestion, the result is a “win” for our community. I encourage you to try something you are not sure is going to work. I’ll help you celebrate your success, and I’ll help you celebrate a failure. Both are rich and God-filled!

Dream 5:

A Woman’s Retreat and a Family Retreat! Let’s get out of the building and away from our “normal” lives. Sometimes being away helps us refocus. It helps us open our spirit to hear God. It helps us grow spiritually and communally. To make these retreats happen, I need some help planning them. Contact me and let’s give it a try!

Dream 6:

A storytelling workshop and performances. Storytelling can help you get comfortable speaking in public. Storytelling can help you see the value in your experiences and relationships. Storytelling can help you preserve memories and traditions to pass on to the next generation. Storytelling can help you communicate your most important experiences without “preaching” about them.

My husband Doug teaches and coaches storytellers literally worldwide. We know many local and national performers to reach out to, or who might be passing through the area. What a blessing it would be, for them to bring their talents to First Church! And it would be a great way to reach out to our town.

Dream 7:

A color directory, produced in-house — along with individual, secure, online access to our church’s private member database. You’ll be able to update your own information: photos, contacts, pledges, etc. You will even be able to print
