CI: I love playing all of our
songs. Perhaps our first song
titled "Lost in the Rain" from the
Black Impellitteri EP. I also like
playing “Venom” and “We Own
the Night” from our new soon to
be released record VENOM!
CR: As a guitarist, what draws
you to the heavier side of music?
Impellitteri (L-R) - Rock Rock (vocals), John Dette (drums),
Chris Impellitteri (Guitars), and James Pulli (bass).
CI: I have been working on
VENOM for approximately 3 to 4
years. I was determined to make
the best record of our
career.
CR: Your 1997 album Eye of the
Hurricane is by far one of your
most faith-based albums (and
one of my favorite albums of all
time!). Does VENOM have much
faith-based content?
CI: No, in all honesty Impellitteri
is not a Christian rock band.
However Rob Rock is a devout
Christian and I do share in many
Christian beliefs! The music
comes from our heart and the
lyrics cover a wide range of
subject matter... Either way
there are a lot of fun positive
messages in our music.
CR: How do you maintain your
beliefs in a predominately
secular music scene
CI: As I stated, I share in many
Christian beliefs, however I try
to live my life in a manner that
positively effects others. I am
not impressed by bands
promoting evil. In fact, in the
end good always wins over evil,
so I choose the side of good and
help promote the latter with my
God given talent!!
CR: Out of the 13 albums and
Eps you have released as
Impellitteri, which one is your
personal favorite and why?
CI: VENOM! VENOM is the type
of record that usually comes
once in a lifetime for a band.
Everything came together
perfectly from song writing,
musical performance, and
production!
CR: What's your favorite song to
play live?
CI: The energy, technicality,
power, and complexity.
CR: Do you think that you will
ever work on a metal worship
album?
CI: Often we add a song or 2 on
our records that do have positive
faith based lyrics.
CR: The music scene has
dramatically changed over the
years. How have you seen it
change and how has it affected
you as a professional musician?
CI: The Digital Era has helped
promote Impellitteri as as band
all over the world. Thus it has
been a good thing. Piracy is a
problem for all artists. We just
work very hard to overcome
adversity in our industry.
CR: Any last words?
CI: Time to play Live!!!!
