THE CROSS THE RESURRECTION The religious leaders arrested Jesus later that night and handed Him over to Roman governor Pontius Pilate to be killed for saying he was the Son of God. Pilate had him scourged and crucified. On the eve of Passover the lamb's would have be taken to the temple to be slaughtered and sacrificed at about the same time as Jesus was being crucified. Jesus's crucifixion was no random crucifixion this was the fulfillment of God’s plan, prophesied by the prophets and Jesus himself. David wrote about Jesus's crucifixion a 1000 years before it happened in Psalm 22:15-18: they have pierced my hands and feet.
