oseph is a pastor who makes his
mother a promise on her deathbed,
to try to help his incarcerated
adopted brother Jimmy leave his wayward
ways behind and make a better life for
himself. So when Jimmy is released from
prison, Joseph employees his brother to
help him revitalize a dilapidated church.
But when a gunman tries to rob the church,
Jimmy makes a sacrifice to save Joseph,
and Joseph finds himself going through a
crisis of faith. Meanwhile, two teenage
boys choose to serve out their community
service by helping with the church
renovations, and a mysterious stranger
shows up and tries to help guide a number
of the characters on their journeys of faith
and forgiveness. So when Joseph
eventually finds himself face-to-face with
the gunman, and he must choose whether
or not to forgive.
WWJD: The Journey Continues is a good
movie in which the lives of several
individuals with different backgrounds and
dilemmas are woven together, all of which
culminate toward the end of the film.
The themes and messages contained in the
movie came through loud and clear. One
such message is that holding onto hate and
unforgiveness - toward others and oneself only breeds negativity and anger, but if one
chooses to accept forgiveness and the love
offered by Christ, then they will find true
freedom.
Another message to be found in the movie
is that we shouldn't let go of our faith in
Jesus when we are faced with hard times
and unforeseen circumstances, but should
hold onto it that much tighter, and draw
closer to Him.
And true to it’s title, the question “what
would Jesus do?” is posed several times in
the movie, with various characters being
asked the question, and the opportunity to
live it out if they choose.
As far as the productions side of things go,
WWJD: The Journey Continues is a quality
feature, with good acting from all involved,
sound cinematography and directing, and a
well written story.
On a side note, there is some mild violence
throughout the movie, including teenage
boys getting into a fist-fight, young men
beati an older homeless man, and a man is
shot (and subsequently dies). Considering
the subject matter and content, I would
recommend this movie for those 12+.
WWJD: The Journey Continues is a well
made movie that did a good job at
communicating its message of forgiveness
and holding onto faith in Jesus.
Christian movie regular, John Schneider,
appears in the film as “the drifter”, and he
helps guide a number of the characters on
their journeys of faith and forgiveness.
