Get To Know - Jon Micah Sumrall on Micah Sumrall is the lead vocalist for Christian rock band Kutless. “Faith & Family” is his debut solo album… read our review. Recently we shot 10 quick fire questions at him… 1. What is your favorite Bible verse and why? Psalm 37:4 - “Delight yourself also in the Lord and He shall give you the desires of your heart”. This has been a key verse for me that has guided me through many seasons of my life. How do we know what God’s will is for us? We delight ourselves in Him and we will find that as we focus on Him our desires become in line with His. My prayer is "God if this is your desire bring it to pass, if it is my own desire and not yours, change my heart”. St Augustine was once asked how to know God’s will and his reply was, to love God and do what you please. When we seek God, delighting ourselves in Him we will find our desires in line with His. 2. What is your all time favorite movie? This is a tough one. There are so many different types of movies. The original Dumb and Dumber is a classic I have always loved and is probably my favorite comedy. Probably the most impacting movie I have ever seen was End of the Spear. It is heavy, but If you have never seen it, is a worthwhile watch. 3. Who is your personal hero? I have always related really well to the Biblical account of David and it’s amazing that he was referred to as a “man after God’s own heart” (Acts 13:22). I can’t think of a better legacy to leave behind than to be known as a man after God’s own heart. 4. What are some of your hobbies? I have lots of hobbies! I love skiing/snowboarding, wakeboarding, jet skiing, hunting, hiking, fishing, biking, camping, rock climbing, scuba diving, and playing soccer. I’ve always loved the outdoors and adventurous sports. It’s how I unwind and it helps me stay in decent physical shape. 5. What book are you reading at the moment? I have a stack of devotionals that I read daily. Streams in the Desert is one of my favorites that seems to always apply to exactly what I’m going through. I am not a huge reader, but I am also currently working my way through a book called The 74 > CHRISTIAN REVIEW MAGAZINE
