Leah’s Top 5 Choices: WHEN THE GAME STANDS TALL - Based on a true story, When The Game Stands Tall is a sport drama that revolves around the journey of football coach Bob Ladouceur and the De La Salle High School Spartans. All of the actors (which include Jim Caviezel, Michael Chiklis, Laura Dern, and Alexander Ludwig) bring their A-game, and the production is fantastic. This is a brilliantly made inspirational movie about how the strong faith of one man inspired many. (Read review) BELIEVE ME - This movie focuses on a group of four college buddies who start a fake charity in order to pay off outstanding debts and earn some extra cash as graduation nears. While it is highly entertaining, brilliantly acted, and extremely well made, there is a lot that one can learn from watching Believe Me. The movie is very thought provoking, passionately produced, and it not-so-subtly demonstrates that mere words can have a huge impact on someone's faith. (Read review) 10 > CHRISTIAN REVIEW LIVING HOPE - A fantastic documentary about the nonprofit organization, Living Hope, and it’s lifesaving work in South Africa. It showcases the story of Pastor John Thomas, and those who came alongside him to fight poverty and disease in South Africa. Living Hope is an excellent piece of film, as it is both captivating and inspirational - it certainly tugs at the heartstrings. It is a testament to the fact that many lives can be changed, saved even, through the faith of a few. (Read review) THE SONG - Inspired by the Biblical book The Song of Solomon, The Song is about one man’s search for meaning and purpose in a life he deems as meaningless. While it is an excellent movie on all fronts, don’t expect a romantic comedy from The Song. It is a deep drama, that deals with topics including faith, love, marriage, temptation, adultery, and the search for true meaning and hope in life. (Read review)
