Casting Crowns are an exceptional band, and this album is one of the finest Christmas albums to date. In their unique style, Casting Crowns offer up ten tracks made up of classic Christmas songs and all new seasonal tunes. What we love most about this band is that they work hard to create and hone their music, to bring their listeners quality music. “Peace on Earth” is no exception. “Boo Humbug” is Rene Gutteridge’s fourth book in the Boo series - previous to this were “Boo,” “Boo Who,” and “Boo Hiss.” Funny and poignant, the series follows former horror writer, Wolfe Boone, who is also known as Boo. This time it’s Christmastime in Skary, Indiana. After being encouraged by her theater teacher, Lois Stepaphanopolis writes a horror play, based on the Dickens’ classic “A Christmas Carol,” and tries to bring her vision to life. A great book that delivers the Christmas message well. Made back in 1965, this is still a Christmas favorite here in the Christian Review office. Upset by all the commercialism he sees all around him, Charlie Brown sets out to try and discover the true meaning of Christmas. To this day, this 25 minute cartoon is a timely classic in every sense of the word! Anyone who doesn’t love this movie needs to have their pulse checked. This Frank Capra classic is the quintessential Christmas movie and is quite literally in a class of its own. If you haven’t seen this movie then you are missing out on not only the best Christmas movie ever, but one of the best movies ever made. Critics and audiences alike hold this movie in high regard. The late Roger Ebert called it an “ageless” movie “that improves with age.” This was a tough list to put together as there are so many great Christmas albums, movies, and books. Unfortunately we only have so much space here in this magazine.
