Meet Dawn:

Growing up, I was never taught about God. My parents never spoke of Him. The only time His name was mentioned was when they were using it in vain. From the time I was born, I was never good enough for my parents. As I got older I quickly realized that my younger brother was the "perfect child" and I was nothing more than a mistake. Once I began kindergarten in 1998, things just went from bad to worse. From the first day I began going to school I was constantly bullied and abused by the other children. No matter how many times I would tell my parents or teacher, nobody would believe me. After my kindergarten year came to a close, my family moved to a new town and a new school and a new life. As I began the new school year, the same things happened. I would be bullied constantly, I'd get beaten up by other kids, but nobody would ever believe me. However by some miracle, I did manage to make a friend my first year at my new school. Her name was Amy, and little did I know that in just a few short years, she would completely change my life!

The first time I ever heard about God was from Amy. When I was in third grade, she invited me to go to church with her and her mom. I still remember my first night going into that church. I was so nervous, but from the first lesson that was taught, I could see that God was real. I remember the Scripture that was taught to us that night.

It was John 14:1 “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”

I only went to church a few more times before my life completely turned around. After dealing with bullying and abuse for 3 years, I became exactly what I hated; I became that bully. I became that abuser to other kids throughout my school. This new attitude of mine lasted just over a year. What really changed my attitude was the fact that my parents made the decision to hold me back a grade and make me reapeat
