> 3. Can you kind of explain your struggle with fear? And give any advice to those who are trying to overcome it?

Carmen: My struggle with fear is probably very similar to a lot of people. When I wrote “Flaming Arrows”, I was in a season where I was having a lot of anxiety about the future, my career wasn’t going as planned, and I was dealing with multiple family members having cancer. I read the passage in Ephesians 6:16 which says “take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one.” This grabbed my attention because that’s exactly how I felt—like arrows were being thrown at me from different directions and I felt out of control. I learned that with the faith I have in Jesus, I can overcome any fear in my life. I would encourage anyone struggling with any type of fear

to face it head on (which is sometimes the hardest part) and to seek help if they can’t do it alone. Sometimes our battles weren’t meant to fight alone so have people in your life that you can talk to about your struggles and to pray with you.

> 4. CCG: What made you want to step away from 1GN and come out with some of your own music? Are you leaving the group?

Carmen: The 3 of us collectively decided back in the fall that our time with the band was coming to an end. It has been a very bittersweet time because I love the girls like family still, but it has DEFINITELY been exciting creating new music that I can put my heart into. We went through a lot together so I know we will always be family to each other and they are literally the first people I show my new songs to!!
