Mrs Brunt’s Shake ‘n bake in this box It’s an exciting time for us we’re about to mark our 100th birthday. My grandfather Arthur Brunt opened his grocers’ shop in Brunswick, suburban Melbourne in 1920; started weighing potatoes, slicing cheese and measuring tea for Australian families. Arthur’s reputation grew as a purveyor of quality and service. Arthur Brunt and later his son Geoffrey brought new and interesting products to the Australian market, like the cranberry revolution with Ocean Spray Cranberries, corn based products with Old El Paso Mexican (we lead in the 1980’s being the only producer making taco shells & nachos in Australia from sustainable coconut oil) . I’m proud of our history and really excited about the future; on our centenary introducing Mrs Brunt’s Shake ‘n bake in this box breads and cake. The breads are a self-contained ingredients and baking system, there is no waste all ingredients are used, the packaging is the same box it’s baked in. The used box is 100% recyclable (the small plastic plug is “too small” to go in the roadside recycle pick-up but deposited at any plastic recycling depot). We had seen consumers wanting 8 Complete Health fresh baked, quality, tasty bread, but were tiring of bread machines or time needed to bake at home. As an enthusiastic sourdough baker, myself I was frustrated at not having the time to be able to bake every day. I had the good fortune to find our Danish partners that have spent the last 15 years developing a way to package a bread mix in the box which it can be prepared and cooked in. Now the utopia is here for bakery. A just-add-water, shake-and-bake- in-the-box-in- the-oven; a loaf of bread: no mixing bowl, no baking tin, no mess, no hassle. With our Danish partners we developed a range of breads especially for Australian tastes. The results surprised even us, we took pure natural Scandinavian ingredients wheat, oats and rye, golden linseed, sunflowers seeds, quinoa, maize, rice, potato flour and created these organic breads, breads, gluten free breads and amazing gluten free chocolate cake. The result? “Quality fresh bread of distinction,” The range leads with the Summer Sun Loaf, an organic sourdough bread with sunflower and linseed, and also includes the Farmers Field Loaf (wheat and oat sourdough bread), Autumn Loaf (light wheat and rye bread) and Homestead Loaf (wholemeal wheat and rye bread with sunflower and linseed). Possibly the most exciting is the Gluten Free range, which we think is as good as good a gluten bread to eat. “The Gluten Free range includes two organic (soda) breads: Gentle Earth Bread, light organic sourdough bread with quinoa, and Warm Earth Bread, dark organic sourdough bread with quinoa and linseed. All of the breads are suitable for vegans. The Gluten Free range is rounded off with the Unbelievably Rich Chocolate Cake, not just a good gluten free chocolate cake, but a good chocolate cake, period. We hope you enjoy Mrs Brunt’s Shake ‘n bake in this box, we love them. And we hope you enjoy our breads next year when we plan to bring you kale bread, hemp seed bread and an exception gluten free yeast bread. • Integrity: The pack photos are all breads I cooked in my own kitchen (not a food stylist in sight) • Where possible ingredients have been locally sourced • The Gluten free products are endorsed by Coeliac Australia (and Coeliac UK and Coeliac DK) • All then breads are 100% plant based, hence suitable for vegans (the cake is not it has egg and milk solids) • Our heritage is we are 3rd generation grocers on one side and primary producers (sheep, beef, wool) off the land on the other.
