Flying into Toronto from Los Angeles where she’s recording her album, and back out to her hometown in Sweden that very night, she speaks enthusiastically about her not-so-sudden rise to fame, what she’s excited about right now and, of course, Beyoncé. It seems fitting that we meet at a restaurant named Wish, an adorable café in Toronto, whose patio centerpiece is a wish fountain. “When my song became number 1 in Scandinavia, and everything just exploded, I was so lucky,” she says humbly, as though this was the result of wishing upon a fountain. The reality is that her singing career did not happen overnight, and that any success she has achieved has been through hard work and determination.
