Kettner Exchange, named after William Kettner, a Congressman in the early 1900’s, credited with bringing the
Navy to San Diego in 1919 and thus making San Diego
one of the largest and most influential cities in the country,
is one of the City’s most exclusive restaurants, since opening its doors in November 2014.Designed by Bluemotif
Architecture, guests enter the stunning restaurant via its
intimate lower level featuring a fireplace, upholstered
booths, dark wood and unique, personal touches such as a
chess table. The top floor’s indoor / outdoor space boasts the
one of the best views of the scenic San Diego Bay in Little
Italy—from either its glass walled, open air private dining
room overlooking the street, or its dining room or outdoor
rooftop. Additionally, the restaurant features one of the most
breathtaking Chef ’s Tables in the city—an apothecary-like
space inside the restaurant’s kitchen. The intimate, eightperson table provides a “front-row” view of the action in
the kitchen, surrounded by one wall full of spice jars (from
which Chef Brian Redzikowski pulls directly), one wall with
floor-to-ceiling wine storage and a third glass-walled window
visible from the street.
