FARMHOUSE INN
If there were ever a hotel to embody
country-chic, The Farmhouse Inn
would be it.
Located in Sonoma, just south of Healdsburg, this boutique hotel
may be the size of a bed and breakfast, but has all the amenities and
qualities of a 5-star hotel. One of the pros of Sonoma over Napa
Valley is that it is much less touristy and you’re bound to have better rates than it’s often crowded neighbor. Voted the #8 Best Hotel
in the World by Travel + Leisure, this charming boutique hotel is
unassuming and unpretentious. Flower bushes line the walkways to
your private cottage, many of which come with a private terrace and
jetted bathtub. The King Luxury Cottage is the most spacious room
on property and also my favorite. The décor is shabby-chic meets
contemporary rustic. The Spa at The Farmhouse Inn is incredibly
unique; they utilize produce harvested on site into their spa treatments. Such as spring Forest Honey and heirloom cider apples from
their own Ranch, along with herbs grown in Farmhouse’s kitchen
garden. The Spa is operated and designed by Francis & Alexander,
the brains behind other famous spas such as The Spa at Auberge du
Soleil and The Spa at Palmetto Bluff.
The Restaurant at The Farmhouse Inn is simple yet elegant, with
hints of aged stone and old barn wood. They kept the dining area
small to create an intimacy that you would share with your din-
ing partners. Allyson Gorsuch, the head Sommelier and Estate
Wine Director, had this to say about curating the perfect wine and
food pairing, “The first thing I look for when doing the pairings at
Farmhouse is structure – I taste a dish and consider the structure
of the dish and what the paired wine will need to highlight our
Chef ’s plates.
