Community Hospital delivers with new Family Birthing Center
When it comes to beautiful beginnings, new moms can expect
the best from Community Hospital’s Family Birthing Center.
Community Hospital is one of the leading facilities in the state for
newborn care and delivers the most babies per year in the region.
Our combination of expert medicine, compassion, and state-ofthe-art facilities helps to ensure the health and safety of moms and
babies on all levels.
With the top three floors of a new tower dedicated to the Family
Birthing Center, Community Hospital will soon unveil an all-new
32-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) plus 25 private
Mother/Baby suites, 12 private labor and delivery rooms, two
Caesarean section suites and a newborn nursery complete with
baby spa.
“Our number one goal throughout the entire planning process is
true family-centered care,” says Michelle Cherry, RN, BS, nurse
manager, Community Hospital NICU/Nursery. “It’s what our
patients expect and what we want to do for them.”
The new Family Birthing Center will feature enhanced monitoring
as well as greater comfort for moms and their families, according
to Cherry. "Following labor and delivery, they will move to a
comfortable mother/baby room,” she says. “The new layout provides
the luxury of skin-to-skin contact right after delivery for all moms
and babies, including those having a C-section, and an infant spa
in the new nursery will have enough room for mom, dad and other
family members who may want to be there for baby’s first bath.”
Community Hospital’s team of highly experienced OB/GYN
physicians, anesthesiologists and neonatologists who are in-house
24/7, dedicated nurses and support staff - and lactation support
available to moms seven days per week - provides new moms and
infants with the utmost in clinical care and personalized attention
