to be available every day. Some of our kids go out four days a week, five days a week. We have kids that go out three times in one day. So you just need to be flexible and be able to take them to this. And then their classes, their photos, maybe get a video done, have them work on student films and the filming that goes with that. So it’s a full time commitment for the kids, like any major activity that kid chooses to do. to come for the callback. And if they can’t come for the callback and they’re not famous, they’re not going to get booked. Some parents go “oh, they’re so amazing, they’ll get booked”… no they won’t. They’re just going to going to go past them and go to the next kid. So you go to the audition. Then you get a callback because they want to see you again. Is there any guarantee on the callback that you’re going to If a child doesn’t live near LA or Mi- get booked? ami or Atlanta where a lot of the filming is done, but they are really good at No guarantee. what they do, what are the options for those parents? Is it doable? Can they get their kid in? And that’s just it, Well I think the trick is to find an agent, if you live in an area outside of New York, Atlanta, or Los Angeles, you should find a local agency that will help you with local things. Most LA agencies will not take someone that lives far because of the logistics of it. Now if it’s this kid that’s absolutely amazing, then … like, I do have one and I only submit him to movies. That’s it. No TV. Because we’re going to have to film them and do a self tape for the first audition. And most people don’t like that because remember how I said how fast they move on these projects? So they don’t even have time to look at a self tape. And if even if they do look at a self tape, they need to be able to fly quickly back even at less than 24 hour notice it’s a numbers game. I think the actual rule is that you’ll go on a hundred auditions before booking a major, major role. Not to say you won’t book little small things. But your major role, like your series regular, is a hundred auditions. I’ve heard that number tossed around. Now, I’m curious to what a lot of my kids have done. But what I’ve noticed in the past year, I’ve had kids go out on maybe… probably 40 or 50 auditions this year, booked little tiny things here and there, but are still waiting for that big role.
